Young Musician of the Year 2026

We are delighted to celebrate the outstanding talent showcased at this year’s Barton Court Young Musician of the Year competition on Thursday 5 February. Congratulations to all our Year 7 and Year 8 students who took part – many of whom stepped onto the stage as solo performers for the very first time. Their confidence, commitment and musicality were truly inspiring.

We also extend our sincere thanks to our esteemed panel of judges (Mr Mitchell, Mr Wilcock and Miss Postgate), whose expertise and encouragement helped make the event such a valuable experience for every participant.

Audience members commented on the warm and supportive atmosphere throughout the evening, praising the way each performer cheered on their peers. It was wonderful to see such camaraderie alongside remarkable musical performances.

And the awards went to:

  • Special mention: Riley – Saxophone
  • Special mention: Iris – Voice
  • One to watch: Peter – Guitar/Voice
  • One to watch: Chayo – Guitar/Voice
  • 3rd place: Peyton – Flute
  • 2nd place: Caleb – Guitar/Voice
  • 1st place: Sarah – Piano

Well done to all involved on a memorable and uplifting event!
