Canterbury Festival – Contraband 2026
Posted on: 06/11/2026Barton Court was really pleased to be invited back to participate in Contraband, a youth band festival for young people aged 14-21.
We presented three bands, FRET (Y13), Of the Dog (Y9-11) and MSC (Y12). All the bands enjoyed the experience of performing in a proper ‘gig’ setting and the talent on display from all the participating groups was fantastic to see.
Both MSC and FRET won the opportunity to have a professional recording session at Canterbury College; MSC were praised for their original song ‘Nikki’ which one of the judges likened to The Ramones and FRET demonstrated an exceptionally high level of instrumental skill. Of the Dog also brought the house down with their set, culminating in Enter Sandman!
We’d like to thank the Canterbury Festival and Canterbury College for hosting us, and we look forward to participating again next year!
