Smiles, Success and Discovery at BCGS’s Year 5 Taster Morning

On Saturday 27 June, Barton Court Grammar School was delighted to welcome a number of Year 5 pupils for a fun-filled Taster Morning, giving prospective students the opportunity to experience life at the School ahead of the Kent Test in September.

From the moment they arrived, the children threw themselves enthusiastically into a packed programme of exciting activities across a range of subjects. Throughout the morning, they explored lessons and workshops designed to showcase the breadth of opportunities available at the School, while also meeting some of the teachers and current students who help make the School such a vibrant and welcoming community.

Pupils enjoyed taking part in activities from a variety of departments, including French, Spanish, Music, English, Mathematics, Drama, Science, PE, Computing, Geography, Design Technology and Food. The sessions provided plenty of opportunities for creativity, teamwork, problem-solving and hands-on learning, giving visitors a real taste of what lessons at the School are like.

Current students were on hand throughout the morning to talk about their own experiences, answer questions and offer advice about preparing for the Kent Test and making the transition to secondary school. Their enthusiasm and friendliness helped visitors feel relaxed and confident as they explored the School.

The atmosphere throughout the event was full of energy, excitement and curiosity. Following the activities, refreshments provided a welcome opportunity for pupils to relax and reflect on their experiences before taking home a special memento to remember their morning.

The smiles, engagement and enthusiasm shown by the children demonstrated just how much they enjoyed the event. As can be seen in the photographs, pupils embraced every opportunity available to them, whether they were conducting scientific investigations, tackling mathematical challenges, performing in drama activities, baking cookies or participating in team games.

Barton Court would like to thank all the staff and student volunteers who helped make the morning such a success, as well as the Year 5 pupils and their families for joining us. We hope everyone had a wonderful time and we look forward to welcoming many of them back in the future.
