District Cross Country - November 2018

On Wednesday 28 November we took a team of cross country runners to compete in the annual District Cross Country Championships. Runners were faced with a very wild, wet and windy day, which made conditions very tricky. However, our runners were up to the challenge and produced some fantastic runs.

Runners were motivated by the promise of a place at the County Championships if they finished in the top 16 of their race. The Year 7 teams led the way, with an impressive 6 runners qualifying to go on to the Kent champs in January. Well done to Sam (4^th), Cameron  (9^th), Archie (10^th) Margot (11^th), Dana (15^th) and Erica (16^th) for qualification – as well as all other runners who represented the School well.

In the junior competition, there was an outstanding 3^rd place for Felix as well as 13^th and 14^th place for Max and Gabe, who had jumped almost 20 positions from their efforts last year. Well done to all 3 boys who will compete in Dover in January. There were also good runs from the Year 8 members of the team and the Year 9 girls who fought the elements to complete their races well.

We also had qualification in the intermediate and senior races with Lee-James finishing well to gain a 5^th place. He will be joined at the championships by Roseanna and Eliot who qualified from the senior category. Head Boy Cole was very unfortunate that his hopes of a top 3 finish on the day were ended by a nasty slip and twisted ankle in the woods. We are hopeful Cole will still be picked for the District Team in January.
