Community, Action, Service - CASCAS is one of the 3 central parts of the IB Diploma 'Hexagon' along with Theory of Knowledge and the Extended Essay. When you undertake the activities you choose for the CAS part of the IB there is a good chance that you will find that your outlook on life changes too! Whereas the CAS activities are compulsory and a certain minimum amount of CAS must be done to be awarded the IB Diploma, many students in the past have completed much more than that and have carried on with those kind of activities long after they finished the IB. ![]() Creativity includes Painting, Photography, Film, Video, Music, Drama, Dance, Sculpture, Pottery, Textiles, Designing, Murals, Planning projects and coaching, Debating, Journalism, Web design & ICT projects etc. ![]() Action includes Sports ( i.e. the mainstream sports + less 'common' ones, e.g. Archery, Rock-climbing, Rowing & Canoeing, Skiing, Mountain Biking, Martial Arts & Self-Defence etc ). It also includes much of the Duke of Edinburgh's Award. Aerobics, Walking, Yoga, Dancing and Chess could also be included. Environmental & Conservation work can count for Action too. ![]() Service could involve students in helping in Primary schools & other education areas, Hospices and Hospitals, Charity projects and organisations, Conservation and Environmental activities, supporting disabled people. Anything that HELPS someone else can count. The most important part of CAS. They are all GREAT FUN TOO! CAS Booklet
