March Focus Day a success

Wednesday 7th April 2010

The last Focus on Wednesday 10th March was a great success! Year 7 students followed a range of activities in Art, Music and PE led by the Arts faculty. The focus was Carnival and Circus and the students explored this focus through a range of workshops, some of which were led by outside specialists. In year 8 students had a Business Awareness day, which covered the Economic Awareness section of the Every Child Matters strand of the National Curriculum. Students took part in a range of activities, including a mini 'Dragon's Den' and running a toy business in team using simulation software. Students in year 9 looked at music, fashion and film in the Hispanic/Francophone world through a range of activities within the Languages faculty. In year 10 students followed a range of workshops based around personal, health and social care, involving several outside speakers. The English faculty ran intensive revision sessions for GCSE English Literature with year 11 students and in year 12 students started their Group 4 project, which is an essential component of the IB Diploma. Students in year 13 focussed on the preparation for te IB examinations with the Mathematics faculty. It was a very busy, but enjoyable day!
